Specialty Lab Draw Kits

In addition to routine blood tests, there are several specialty kits used in blood draws that are designed to test for specific medical conditions or to collect blood samples for specialized testing.

Here are some examples of specialty kits and what they are used for:

HbA1c Kits

HbA1c kits are used to measure the average level of glucose in the blood over a period of several months. This test is commonly used to monitor blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. HbA1c kits typically use a fingerstick blood sample, which is then analyzed in a laboratory.

Hemoglobinopathy Kits

Hemoglobinopathy kits are used to test for inherited blood disorders that affect the production of hemoglobin, a protein found in red blood cells. Hemoglobinopathies include sickle cell disease and thalassemia. These kits typically use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Coagulation Kits

Coagulation kits are used to test the clotting ability of the blood. These tests can help diagnose bleeding disorders or monitor the effectiveness of blood thinning medications. Coagulation kits typically use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Infectious Disease Kits

Infectious disease kits are used to test for specific viral or bacterial infections, such as HIV, hepatitis, or Lyme disease. These kits may use blood samples collected by venipuncture or fingerstick, and can provide rapid results in some cases.

Allergy Kits

Allergy kits are used to test for specific allergens, such as pollen or animal dander. These kits typically use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory. Allergy testing can help identify triggers for allergic reactions and guide treatment.

We strive to provide the highest quality of service at an affordable cost. Reach out to us today to book your phlebotomy appointment.

Cancer Screening Kits

Cancer screening kits are used to detect early signs of cancer by analyzing specific biomarkers in the blood. These kits may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture or fingerstick, and can provide rapid results in some cases. Cancer screening kits are commonly used to screen for prostate cancer, breast cancer, and colon cancer.

Thyroid Function Tests

Thyroid function tests are used to evaluate the function of the thyroid gland. These tests measure levels of thyroid hormones, including T3 and T4, as well as thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which is produced by the pituitary gland and regulates thyroid function. Thyroid function tests may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Vitamin B12 and Folate Kits

Vitamin B12 and folate kits are used to measure levels of these vitamins in the blood. Both vitamins are important for the production of red blood cells and for proper nervous system function. Deficiencies in these vitamins can cause anemia and other health problems. Vitamin B12 and folate kits may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Serum Protein Electrophoresis Kits

Serum protein electrophoresis kits are used to analyze the different types of proteins in the blood, including albumin, globulins, and immunoglobulins. These tests can help diagnose conditions such as multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Serum protein electrophoresis kits may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Drug Screening Kits

Drug screening kits are used to detect the presence of drugs in the blood, including illegal drugs and prescription medications. These tests may be used for workplace drug testing or to monitor patients taking certain medications. Drug screening kits may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can provide rapid results in some cases.

Autoimmune Disease Kits

Autoimmune disease kits are used to test for specific antibodies in the blood that may indicate the presence of autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. These tests may use a blood sample collected by venipuncture and can be analyzed in a laboratory.

Overall, specialty kits can provide important information about specific medical conditions or assist in specialized testing. If your doctor orders any of these tests, be sure to ask questions and understand what the results mean for your health. It is also important to follow any instructions or preparations given before the blood draw to ensure accurate results.
